So Much Fun at StoryDance Playgroup!
We had a blast dancing with so many little ones at DDF’s FREE StoryDance Playgroup in late October. Along with about 20 participants and their grown-ups, we danced, we read stories, we played games with scarves and bears. And to top it all off, we had a beautiful ballerina performance at the end as a special treat! Keep an eye out for our next StoryDance Playgroup!

DDF Wins “Best Musical Theater”!
On October 18th, DDF Owners Hanne and Melanie attended the Industry Dance Awards in Hollywood, California! The entire event was amazing, complete with a red carpet, celebrity hosts and honorees (including THE Shirley MacLaine!), and an evening of awards in various dance genres and for outstanding achievements and artistic contributions. Most notably, the event raises money for Dancers Against Cancer, and this year, over $100,000 was raised!
We are so excited to report that DDF’s “No Business”, choreographed by the fabulous Al Blackstone for our 2023 competition season and expertly danced by 7 of our super talented DDF dancers, won the IDF award for Best Musical Theater! Congrats to all!

StoryDance is a 45-minute free class for little ones (and their grown-ups) to introduce them to the wonderful world of dance! Aimed at children ages 1-4 years old, StoryDance features dance fun, story time, games and activities, and even a super special ballerina performance sure to delight your little one!

This past weekend, eighteen Downtown Dance Factory dancers attended the NUVO convention in Meadowlands, NJ. The dancers participated in master classes in Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz Fusion and Musical Theater. Congratulations to Addie, Cici, Elle, Sydney, Sophie, Willow & Wynne for being Breakout Artist Finalists and to Casey for being awarded Winner, Senior Breakout Artist! (October 2023)

The week after Labor Day, DDF will be open for pre-season uniform purchases. Make sure to get your dancers uniform before their first class so they are suited up and ready to go! Uniform hours are as follows:
* Wed Sep 6th 10am-1pm, 3-6:30pm
* Thu Sep 7th 3-7pm
* Fri Sep 8th 2:30-6:30pm
* Sat Sep 9th 10am-3pm

DDF Pride
In June, fifteen Downtown Dance Factory dancers joined the cast and crew of Broadway’s Once Upon A One More Time at the NYC Pride Parade! Supporting the LGBTQ+ community, DDF dancers celebrated the day as they danced and leaped their way through their fabulous city.

Downtown Dance Factory Companies Take Center Court!
In June, all five of DDF’s dance companies performed at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center during both pregame and halftime shows at the Brooklyn Liberty vs Atlanta Dream WNBA game. Pregame, companies Indigo and Yellow performed their jazz routines, “Hello” and “SOS”, and companies Pink, Blue and Orange gave one final performance of this year’s Production Number, “You Should be Dancing”. At halftime, all the DDF company dancers, clad in their Madonna Ts, performed this year’s Recital finale – Madonna – one last time. And they were fabulous! Check them out below …. (June 2023)
