DDF Protocols and Procedures

  • Classes will be limited in size to ensure adequate distancing, and will therefore vary by studio.
  • Class times will be staggered to avoid crowding, and classes will also run on Saturdays and Sundays to allow for a comprehensive schedule.
  • Breaks will be scheduled between classes to clean and air out studios.
  • Masks will be worn by everyone at Downtown Dance Fatory, both in the lobby and in the studios.
  • The studio floors will be taped with 6’x6’ boxes to ensure appropriate distancing.
  • Faculty will maintain proper distance from students and will provide verbal corrections only. Dancers excel at spacing!
  • Temperatures will be checked and hands sanitized upon arrival.
  • Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned thoroughly and at regular intervals.
  • Waiting areas on both floors will be closed to families and caregivers. Dancers instead will be escorted by DDF Staff up to our studios (exceptions for preschool-aged classes).
  • Dressing rooms will be closed and water-fountains turned off.
  • Dancers will exit using the alternate staircase to promote unidirectional pedestrian traffic.
  • Touchless hand-sanitizer stations will be installed in the waiting areas and all studios, and touchless soap and paper towel dispensers will be installed in all bathrooms.
  • Upgrades are in process for the whole building to increase outside fresh air intake and install MERV-13 compliant filters, said to be best practice for COVID minimization. We are also looking into UV-lighting cleansing solutions, also recommended to kill the virus.
  • All students/families/staff who have any form of illness will be asked to dance from home, and will be expected to adhere to government regulations regarding quarantine and isolation after travel or exposure.
