Downtown Dance Factory Dancers Return to Barclays Center
Last night at Barclay's Center, two Downtown Dance Factory classes performed primetime center court at the NBA Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls game. Donning sushi hair pieces and fabulous gold and black costumes, Company Red dazzled the Brooklyn fans with their sassy Sushi dance. Next Company Blue performed their dance Beautiful People with absolute grace and sophistication. Well done dancers! and well done Nets, who defeated the Bulls in an exciting game that followed our performance :)
Downtown Dance Factory Supports WIRES
Every year, Downtown Dance Factory Demonstration Classes have ended with the presentation to each dancer of a special ribbon to say: "Well Done, Dancers! While we still say "Well Done, Dancers!", this year, dancers did not receive ribbons. Instead, Downtown Dance Factory donated the money normally spent on those ribbons to WIRES - the Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service - which is looking after all the animals that have been injured and displaced by the horrible bushfires in Australia. In announcing this to the parents before each Demonstration class, we've been met by so many nods of agreement, telling us this was the right call. Parents have stopped us in the halls to express what a wonderful thing this is, and how important it is for the studio and the dancers to be doing something to help. We thank you all for your support in this effort. And we say: Well Done Dancers!
Downtown Dance Factory Performs Center Court at Barclays Center
Last night, dancers from Company Violet and Company Yellow wowed the crowd at the Brooklyn Nets vs Utah Jazz basketball game. Dancing first to Sweet Lovin' by Sigala, Company Violet was energetic and, well, sweet(!) as they danced their hearts out. Next, Company Yellow danced beautifully to Tom's Diner. Both Companies were professional and perfect as they represented Downtown Dance Factory at this amazing venue, dancing Center Court in front of a huge crowd. Congratulations dancers - you did us proud, as always!
Demonstration Class Have Begun
Downtown Dance Factory is abuzz with enthusiasm as parents, grandparents, caregivers, siblings and friends fill our Tribeca dance studios for Demos. Demonstration classes started today, and already our dancers are wowing the crowds! Demonstration classes in Street Hip Hop, Jazz/Hip Hop Fusion and Lyrical dance led the way. More demos follow every day for 3 straight weeks through to the end of January. Make sure to check out our Instagram feed @downtowndancefactory for more fun photos of our daily Demonstration Classes.
A Fun-Filled Day at the Groove Convention
Last Sunday, Downtown Dance Factory took 58 dancers to attend the Groove Convention in Dover, New Jersey. Our dancers, aged 7 through 16, took amazing master classes in Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop from some wonderful choreographers, including former DDF teacher and current DDF choreographer, James Washington! They all had a blast and learned so much. Click here for some great footage!
Yet another fabulous performance at the Barclays Center
This past weekend, Downtown Dance Factory dropped into the Barclays Center AGAIN for some fabulous center court pre-game entertainment! This time, Company Violet rocked the floor to Faith and Company Blue danced beautifully to Forget You. Both groups were met by wild applause and did us proud, as always. Thanks to all our amazing dancers and our wonderful supportive parents for coming out. What a great game too ... nail biting double over-time game which ended the "wrong way". We'll get 'em next time, Nets!
Companies Yellow & Red take on Barclays Center
Last weekend, the amazing dancers from Company Yellow and Company Red wow'ed the Barclays Center crowd as they danced center court at the Nets vs. Bucks pre-game show! The Brooklyn Nets may not have fared quite as well ... but the DDF dancers did us proud as always with their skill, talent, shine and professionalism. Thanks to all our dancers, and a huge shout-out to their families for coming out to support them. Great job everyone!!
Parents can't get enough of Demo Classes at DDF!
For the past few weeks, Downtown Dance Factory has been welcoming our dancers' fans to the studio for Demonstration Classes. Demo classes are an opportunity for friends and family to come INSIDE the studio to see what each week at DDF is all about. In Demo Classes, dancers show parents what they have been learning all semester, from warm-ups to start the class, barre work and across the floor exercises to learn technique, to combinations and choreography to show that technique off ... and WOW have they been showing off some amazing dancing! We are so proud of our dancers, and we know their parents are impressed - aside from the smiles and applause, we love all the photos and videos we see on Instagram and Facebook. Feel free to share yours with #ddfdemos2018. And while you're there, follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see all that's going on inside DDF!
DDF Does Turn It Up Long Island
This past weekend, over 50 Downtown Dance Factory dancers, aged 7 through 17, traveled to Long Island to attend the Turn It Up Dance Convention. Taking classes from fabulous choreographers in Jazz, Technique, Contemporary, Broadway and Hip Hop, our dancers did us proud with their mastery of the technique, their amazing skill and artistry, and their absolute professionalism while representing their studio outside of DDF. Go dancers - congrats to all on a wonderful convention! #turnituplongisland
