DDF Alum Atticus Dobbie Joins the Professional World of Dance
Sending a huge congratulations to DDF Alumnus Atticus Dobbie who has just joined the Gauthier Dance Company in Stuttgart Germany! Atticus started at DDF when we did – back in 2009 in the little gym on Chambers Street. Who knew then that Atticus would be going off to perform internationally for a professional dance company! We are incredibly proud of Atticus for all his accomplishments and can’t wait to see him shine!

DDF “Spices Up” the Barclays Center at the NY Liberty Game
To cap off a super exciting 15th season of dance, all of DDF’s Companies hit center court at the Barclays Center in late May to give this year’s Spice Girls Recital finale one last go – and they rocked it! Congrats dancers on a fabulous end to a fabulous season! You certainly know how to “move it, shake it, celebrate it!”
(As a bonus, the NY Liberty had a great win!)

Downtown Dance Factory Hits Reverb!
It was our first time attending the Reverb Competition, and what a success it was! Downtown Dance Factory took home so many awards, including the “Best Technique” Studio Award and the “Reverb Award” for the Top Scoring Studio in all the age divisions we entered! Our soloists also won 1st place in those same age divisions (congratulations Willow, Willa & Charlie) and finally, the only 7 “Smash Hit” Awards that were presented all weekend went to DDF! Congratulations to our amazing dancers!

This past March, Downtown Dance Factory dancers were thrilled to be featured on the stage of NYC’s iconic Joyce Theater at the NYCDA Foundation’s annual “Destiny Rising” show. Our dancers performed alongside top professional companies such as Complexions, Parsons Dance, ABT and Sidra Bell Dance New York, as well as some of the nation’s elite college dance programs like Pace University and Arizona State. In two fabulous pieces, both choreographed by Emmy Award winning choreographer and DDF favorite teacher Al Blackstone, our dancers did us proud!

DDF Dancers Join Kids Breaking League at NYC PAC!
This past weekend, our DDF breaking program partnered with the Kids Breaking League, a program run by DDF Breaking teacher Kid Glyde. They performed at the beautiful brand new Perelman Performing Arts Center just blocks from DDF. What a great way to help celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop! Thanks to all the DDF families who came out to watch and support, and even battle!
